Well, our official title is the International English Speakers' Association of Finland, but that is a little pompous, so we usually use the acronym IESAF because it is far friendlier and that is exactly what our members are, friendly.
Founded in February 2004, IESAF has continued to build upon its original aims of offering information and assistance concerning everyday life in Finland, providing networking opportunities and social contacts, and exploring different cultures. IESAF is a volunteer organisation of international people living in or are connected with Finland and communicate in a common language: English. Our primary domain is this website and the active forum that has over 20,000 posts on any number of subjects from the Finnish tax system to help finding a job, and even answering cultural questions like why Finns take photographs at funerals. However, IESAF is about real life, which is why we regularly organise events, such as our popular monthly quiz, housing seminars, family days, picnics and curry nights. Full IESAF members can also take advantage of a number of discounts in participating restaurants, hotels and retail outlets across Finland. It is free to register and use our forum, so what are you waiting for? Join today and become an IESAF-er! |
